Cannes Adds 16 New Films to 2026 Lineup, Including ‘Victorian Psycho’ and New Titles Across Competition, Un Certain Regard and Midnight Sections

Cannes expands its 2026 official selection with 16 additional films, including Victorian Psycho, as James Gray’s Paper Tiger enters Competition and new global auteurs join the festival slate.

The Cannes Film Festival continues to expand its 2026 official selection, adding 16 new films across Competition, Un Certain Regard, Cannes Premiere, Special Screenings, and Family Screening sections, further shaping an increasingly diverse and global lineup ahead of its May 12 opening.

Among the most notable additions is Victorian Psycho from director Zachary Wigon, which joins the Un Certain Regard section, adding a gothic horror entry to a lineup that continues to blend emerging voices with established auteurs.

The festival also confirmed James Gray’s Paper Tiger for the main Competition slate, following earlier reports of its inclusion alongside a Neon distribution deal, further strengthening this year’s auteur-driven Competition roster.

In Un Certain Regard, additional titles include A Girl’s Story by Judith Godrèche, Titanic Ocean by Konstantina Kotzamani, and Ulysse by Laetitia Masson, which will close the section. The additions continue Cannes’ tradition of spotlighting experimental and international storytelling within the category.

The Cannes Premiere section adds several new titles, including The End of It by Maria Martinez Bayona, Mary Magdalene by Gessica Généus, AQUI by Tiago Guedes, Mariage au goût d’orange by Christophe Honoré, and Si tu penses bien by Géraldine Nakache.

Special Screenings expand with a varied slate including Spring by Rostislav Kirpičenko, Ashes by Diego Luna, Tanglesby Leah Nelson, Le Triangle d’Or by Hélène Rosselet-Ruiz, and the documentary Groundswell by Joshua and Rebecca Tickell.

In the Family Screening section, Olivier Clert’s animated feature Lucy Lost rounds out the new additions.

The festival will open on May 12 with The Electric Kiss by Pierre Salvadori, continuing its tradition of launching with a French production. This year’s honorary Palme d’Or recipients include filmmaker Peter Jackson and actor-director Barbra Streisand.

The Competition jury will be chaired by Park Chan-wook, while Leïla Bekhti will preside over the Un Certain Regard jury.
