Emerald Fennell reimagines Emily Brontëâs timeless tale with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi locked in a feverish, intoxicating love story.
Warner Bros. has unveiled the first trailer for Wuthering Heights, Emerald Fennellâs bold adaptation of Emily Brontëâs enduring 1847 novel, and itâs as sultry, stormy, and uncompromising as fans of the book might hope. Margot Robbie steps into the role of Catherine Earnshaw opposite Jacob Elordiâs Heathcliff, bringing a visceral, almost dangerous chemistry to Brontëâs gothic classic.
The teaser opens on a moment of breathless tension between the two lovers. âDo you want me to stop?â Elordiâs Heathcliff asks, to which Robbieâs Catherine replies with a breathless, âNo.â Itâs an exchange that perfectly captures the mix of desire, rage, and inevitable ruin that has defined Wuthering Heights for nearly two centuries.
Wuthering Heights will open theatrically on February 13, 2026âjust in time for Valentineâs Day, though the romance here is far more operatic than sweet. The film boasts a strong ensemble including Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell.
This marks Fennellâs third feature with LuckyChap Entertainment following the Oscar-winning Promising Young Woman(2020) and the divisive yet widely discussed Saltburn (2023). The project reunites her with Robbie not only as star but also as producer alongside Josey McNamara, giving Wuthering Heights the unmistakable creative stamp of LuckyChap.

Though Brontëâs novel has been adapted countless timesâfrom Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon in William Wylerâs 1939 version to Tom Hardy and Charlotte Rileyâs 2009 ITV miniseriesâFennellâs take promises a more stylized, modern edge. Known for her mix of biting wit and unsettling intimacy, Fennell seems poised to bring the story into the cinematic moment without losing the textâs brutal, haunting heart.
The trailer hints at lush production design and sweeping cinematography that recall the novelâs moody Yorkshire moors, while the costuming and dialogue highlight the push-pull dynamic between the charactersâ destructive love and their yearning for transcendence.
Robbieâs 2025 slate already includes Kogonadaâs A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, while Elordi continues his ascent with roles in Guillermo del Toroâs Frankenstein and Ridley Scottâs The Dog Stars. Together, their pairing in Wuthering Heightsseems destined to dominate awards conversations and fuel endless online discourse.
