Jonathan P. Moustakas is the founder and editor-in-chief of The Cinema Group, which he started in 2020 during the pandemic — cut off from the theaters and the community that shaped his love of film, he set out to build a home for dedicated cinema fans and a daily source of coverage that actually spoke to them.
What began as a small collective has grown into a publication that reaches nearly 15 million people every 28 days across Instagram, TikTok, and TheCinemaGroup.co, with over 100 million total views across platforms. Under his direction, The Cinema Group holds active press credentials at Cannes, Sundance, TIFF, Tribeca, Venice, NYFF, SXSW, and DocNYC, and has grown into a creative studio working with studios, distributors, and streaming platforms across editorial partnerships and on-the-ground festival coverage.
He continues to lead the publication’s editorial direction from New York — championing emerging voices and covering film, television, and streaming for readers who follow the industry closer than most.
